FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
My Block, My Hood, My City Interconnectivity Rally
Tenochtitlan Plaza in Pilsen
Sunday, December 13, 11am-1pm
My Block, My Hood, My City announces its next rally in Pilsen on December 13th from 11am-1pm. We host these rallies to connect people from all of the different neighborhoods across Chicago. Our goal is to open the doors between Chicago’s communities, and for the December rally we will share the best of Pilsen with the rest of Chicago.
All of Chicago is invited to Pilsen, and we hope to have each of Chicago’s 77 neighborhoods represented at the rally. As we explore Pilsen, we will hear from designated speakers, visit historical landmarks, and share a taste of the local cuisine. We will rally at Tenochtitlan Plaza with local speakers and artists discussing community concerns. Locally roasted Coffee from Efibanas Cafe will be provided for everybody at the Rally. Next we will march in solidarity west on 18th St. stopping to support a local small business La Fogata Village, where the first 100 people will enjoy free lunch!
We don’t always make time to visit other neighborhoods or try out other destinations, but we at My Block, My Hood, My City believe that Chicago is a better place when we broaden our horizons and expand our destinations to include places that we may have never even known existed. We tend to fear and exclude things unfamiliar to us. But when we get to know someone or if we visit some place that is different than we are, we will learn to be more accepting.
My Block, My Hood, My City, is a nonprofit organization committed to serving youth in disadvantaged and underserved communities. Like a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, Chicago is only as strong as its most under-resourced community. Together, we can improve our community literacy by learning to value the hidden gems in right here in our own city.
