This week I visited the Grand Crossing community on the South Side of Chicago. The name "Grand Crossing" comes from an 1853 right-of-way feud between the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway and the Illinois Central Railroad that led to a frog war and a crash that killed 18 people. R.I.P.
Last year, $28,000,000 was spent on lottery tickets in the Grand Crossing Community. Just wanted to say that!
I wonder where the Grand Crossing community be without Gary Comer. I visited the Gary Comer Youth Center, Gary Comer High School, and Gary Comer Middle School. The Gary Comer Foundation also paved the way for the new Grand Crossing Library. Talk about giving back. This man should be saluted. He wins my weekly community hero award. If I had his address I'd send him an M3 hoodie.
I recommend that you guys stop by the Bonfire Grill at 71st and South Chicago Avenue. Gotta try the ribs or the Polish Sausage. Don't sleep on the small peppers that come with the polishes. They have a lot of kick to them.
